A universal fruit, the avocado has many health purposes. Sometimes referred to as one of the super-foods because of it’s high nutritional content, this fruit is high in protein. Making it a good option if you are a vegetarian, or you want to try out different food dishes using avocados. As well as a DIY hair or face mask that can be hydrating, especially if you suffer from dry skin or dry hair.
In the beginning, I was never a huge fan of avocados. The texture of it was disgusting to me, and I could never imagine myself eating avocados in a million years. Even when I would go out to different restaurants, I would never order guacamole or any other food dish that contained avocados.
But since starting my healthy eating journey a few weeks back, things have changed. By doing my research, I realized that there are other ways to make them delicious. In a way that I could still eat them, but not find them nasty.
Learning About Smoothies
Hands down, I would have to say that my number one way to eat avocados is in a smoothie. I find that using an avocado with the rest of my ingredients, gives my smoothie a very creamy consistency. Almost as if I was drinking a milkshake, but without the sugar and unhealthy fat.
How I make My Avocado Smoothie
To make my avocado smoothie, I like using ingredients like kale, spinach, honey, chia seeds, almond milk, and a variety of berries that include (blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries). As well as on the side note, I eyeball everything as I go along since I never measure anything. So hopefully you all do not get confused as I talk about how I make this smoothie. Also, feel free to adjust my measurements to your liking in case you need more or less of these ingredients.
1 cup of spinach or kale
1/2 cup of strawberries, blueberries, or blackberries
1 cup of almond milk
1 teaspoon of chia seeds
2 tablespoons of honey
Ice cubes ( optional)
1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
Pour almond milk into blender.
Add in spinach or kale along with whatever berries you are using for the smoothie.
Add chia seeds, honey, ice and apple cider vinegar.
Blend everything up until it is a smooth consistency and done. Smoothie is complete, and now it is time to pour yourself a glass.
So when comes to avocados or any foods you are not a fan of, try different ways to use them. Because you never know what you like or don’t like until you give it a try.
